Austin College provides all kinds of opportunities in vocal music for all kinds of students…
Majors, minors, and non-majors study voice, take classes, and sing in all the vocal groups with each other. Students will certainly find larger schools with more choirs, but musicians at Austin College have experiences rooted in excellence that also recognize and celebrate their other interests. Students don’t have to give up their other talents to sing and study at Austin College.
Unlike some schools, Austin College does not have freshman-only choirs or graduate assistants teaching voice. From the first semester, students study with experienced faculty who themselves are performers. Programs such as opera workshop and musical theater are designed as students show interest, and we will work to help you participate at your own level. And for students interested in studying abroad, you can pursue music and still have the chance to go abroad for a January Term, semester, or a year.
