Will you be a student at Austin College in the fall of 2014? Interested in playing or singing? Regardless of your eventual major or minor, we’d like to welcome you to the Music Department and encourage you to participate in our ensembles, lessons, and classes.
AUDITIONS ANNOUNCED SUMMER 2014
- You do not need to be a music major or minor to participate in an ensemble or take lessons.
- Auditions for ensembles and lessons take place before the fall semester. (If you are interested in auditioning for a music scholarship, please use the links to the left.)
- Instrumentalists should bring two short piece to play (contest music or etudes) while singers need no prepared materials.
Austin College A Cappella Choir — 45 voice mixed choir singing a wide range of styles. Austin College’s touring musical group.
Sherman Symphony Orchestra — Full symphony orchestra combining area professionals, directors, and Austin College students. Plays regular subscription concerts.
Austin College Concert Band — Full wind ensemble made up of A.C. students, faculty, and area band directors.
Greater Texoma Jazz Ensemble — A full big-band made up of area musicians and students.
Austin College Chamber Orchestra — Small string ensemble made up of Austin College students and staff concentrating on chamber music styles.
The Consort — A cappella vocal jazz ensemble of 12 voices selected by competitive blending audition from members of the A Cappella Choir.
The Quartette — Male a cappella group of 8 chosen by invitation.
Austin College Chorale — 20 voice women’s ensemble of A.C. students of the widest range of experience levels. Performs 1-2 times each semester.
